About Us


History
The Texas Pain Society (TPS) was established in 1989, in Houston, Texas. The membership of over 300 pain practitioners are involved in acute and chronic pain management of patients in Texas. TPS represents the practice of pain medicine in Texas, with a seat on the Texas Medical Association’s House of Delegates.


Vision
The vision of Texas Pain Society is to improve the quality of life of Texans living with pain.

Mission
The Texas Pain Society is dedicated to advancing comprehensive, multidisciplinary, patient-centered pain care across the state. We represent and support the interests of patients, physicians, and healthcare professionals by promoting excellence in education, advocacy, and research, with the goal of improving the lives of Texans living with pain.

Purpose

  • Promotes and maintains the highest standards in the practice of pain medicine through continuing education and clinical research.
  • Encourages education and collaboration among trainees and practitioners across all disciplines involved in pain care.
  • Champion policies and regulations that protect patient access to comprehensive pain treatment and advocates for fair reimbursement from payors
  • Support a multidisciplinary approach to pain management, recognizing the diverse and complex needs of those living with pain.
